History & Background
Domaine de Valmoissine was established in 1989 by Maison Louis Latour, one of Burgundy’s most historic wine houses, with the goal of producing high-quality Pinot Noir outside of Burgundy at a more approachable price point. The estate sits in the Coteaux du Verdon area of the Var region in southeastern France, near the village of Aups. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils at roughly 500 meters above sea level on the site of a former monastery. This elevated location provides warm Mediterranean sunshine during the day and cool nights, an ideal climate for cultivating Pinot Noir with freshness and balance. By combining Burgundian winemaking traditions with this unique terroir, Louis Latour created a distinctive southern expression of Pinot Noir known for its finesse and drinkability.
